  NAPP® MISSION STATEMENT

The National Association of Patent Practitioners (NAPP®) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting patent practitioners and those working in the field of patent law in matters relating to patent law, its practice, and technological advances.

Our Mission is to:

  • Promote professional networking and the exchange of ideas between patent professionals and those working in the field of patent law in matters relating to patent prosecution and technology development;
  • Distribute information related to patent prosecution practice and new technologies to patent practitioners and those who are working in the field of patent law;
  • Create a collective, nationwide voice to respond to proposed changes in the patent statutes, rules and PTO operations with a view to their impact on prosecution practice; and
  • Support patent practitioners in their practices so as to enrich their relationships with their clients.

                                                                                                                                                       

MEMBERSHIP LEVELS AND BENEFITS

 
 

Three Valuable Membership Levels

The National Association of Patent Practitioners (NAPP®) is an organization focused on practice before the U.S.P.T.O.  The organization caters to the needs of the patent prosecutor.  Patent Agents and Patent Attorneys who join as Practitioner Members have the right to vote and the right to hold office.

 
Practitioner Membership
 
  For USPTO registered Patent Agents and Patent Attorneys. Practitioner members have the right to vote and hold office. ($200/year)
 
Associate Membership
 
  For researchers, foreign associates, business persons, and other individuals. No right to vote or hold office. ($175/year)
 
Academic Membership
 
  For individuals preparing for the patent bar exam and for a career as a Patent Agent or a Patent Attorney. ($100/year)
 

Membership is renewable annually from the
date the member joins.

NAPP® Members-only E-mail Discussion Forums- NAPP offers two e-mail discussion forums that enable members to interact with each other on a daily basis. 

  • Our NAPP® Patent Practice Forum™ is focused on patent prosecution issues only. 

  • Our NAPP® General Discussion Forum enables members to discuss other issues such as member-to-member referrals, legislative issues and non-patent prosecution matters.

Invitation to the NAPP® Annual Meeting - This includes the option of attending and/or speaking at:

  • a Saturday "Nuts & Bolts of Patent Prosecution" Short Course

  • a Sunday Business Meeting

  • a Monday-Tuesday Patent Practice Update

Ability to be a candidate for Officer or Director: Officers are elected for a 2-year term; Directors are elected for a 3-year term.
